
Dr. Norhazni Mat Sari is the Deputy Director-General (Operations) at the Department of Environment Malaysia, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES). Before her appointment to her current position, she held various positions within the department and has over 32 years of professional experience in the field of environmental management.
Her areas of expertise include Environmental Legislation and Enforcement, Scheduled Waste Management, Environmental Forensics, and Environmental Quality Monitoring and Management. She has received awards and recognition for her contributions in these areas. Her responsibilities have included overseeing environmental programs, managing enforcement activities, and developing regulations, guidelines, and policy.
Dr. Norhazni has been actively involved in international and regional workshops, seminars, and Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEA) such as the Montreal Protocol, Basel Convention, and others. She also participated in the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC-COP29), which took place in Baku, Azerbaijan. She is also a Lee Kuan Yew Senior Fellow in Public Service.
Holding a Ph.D. in Environmental Management – Environmental Forensics from the National University of Malaysia and a Master’s degrees in Environmental Engineering from the University of Technology Malaysia, as well as a Post Graduate from the United Nations University, Norhazni’s wealth of expertise and experience make her an invaluable professional in the field.
